Airline travel with metal detector

Anyone have some info they can give me on experiences? I do not want to check it in as baggage. I will be going on our annual white tail hunting trip to PA in late November and would also like to "hunt" some old farmhouses near by. Thanks in advance.

I mailed mine to where I was going ahead of time. It was waiting for me when I got there. I am sure there are ways to carry it with you on a plane. I just did'nt want to deal with all that. :super: HH Joe

I carry mine on 2 to 3 times a year and have for year's and have never had the first problem. I break the detector down so it is compact, carry it in a padded detector bag and stow it in the overhead space. I have had to open the bag on a couple of occasions for them to inspect, but beyond that, never had a problem. Good luck and HH, jim tn
