zinc cent 7.0

wheatie 7.0

nickel 7.5

dime 7.0

quarter 8.0

defective coil was testing out at 4.5 to 6.0 max,,,,

You will find a big difference now..That was tested in only preset modes right ? You can adjust a little and get more i bet.

good point this was more of an across the board check...but with dropping disc and bot. cap reject would like to see these results in the dirt...I was out today will post results...

First of all it must be taken into consideration I was not hunting one of my usual clad spots...I headed for the woods to see if i could hit a few deep targets... I was able to hit a memorial at 6.5..., I had not seen a 6.5 on old stock coil! So that was great...the rest of the hunt was nasty...rain slush from snow yesterday and a lot of broken bottles and litter...so switched into high trash program to finish hunt... Only other interesting finds were a bicentennial quarter with a hole drilled in it and the outer ring of a watch (pictured around quarter with hole). Ended up with close to $2 in clad...and soaked from rain and slush...

[size=medium]the measured depth from the coil, or the detector's displayed coin depth read-out? There can be a big difference.

Thanks,

Monte

No I did not use the pinpointing measurements from the display for final results.... I used actual marked measurements... The display seemed to give a slightly different reading so I did not rely on its accuracy... I already figured that out with real dirt digging... Also first time out with new coil had a nice solid hit at 6.5......

hi Gregg, I no longer own a whites but interested in your results. did you do the test inside, around electrical appliances. the reason i ask is that i would expect to see at least 10+ on the 25 cent piece. because the stock coil is 9.5 inches which is a good size coil. also does the DFX have to be air balanced like the xlt, if it does than i would think that the depth should have been a little better. :usaflag:

I am going to check a few more but that seems ok... I conducted them on a workbench in my garage..

when you posted your results i had to go back and do a air test on mine. dont want to mislead nobody. on the TID detector that i have it would hit on a quarter at about 9.5 to 10 inches at 10 inches its hit and miss, i just got another detector that i ordered that came in today. i just finished the air test on it and i'm very happy. its a non metered detector and on quarters i could get it to hit in the air up to 11.5 inches at that depth it was also hit and miss but would hit solid at 10 inches. the TID detector would hit solid at 8.5 to 9 inches. i dont know about you but that is about as much as my lazy butt wants to dig. both these detectors have 8 by 9 coils on them that come stock. i know these are just air test, the actual results may differ in the ground. well these are my results that's why i thought yours were a little shallow. i know the DFX is a good detector, most of what i read on them people like them. i used to have a xlt and could not use it in my area there was something in my area that just interferred with it. that the only reason why i got rid of it. but even with that depth it dont seem to be affecting your coin count congrats! use what you like and makes you happy good luck in your hunts.

thanks for the kind words.... I think if I could get some solid 8.0 signals I would be as happy as a monkey! Was out today ....weather is turning bad here...over $4 in clad and a 46-d wheatie... deepest hit today was 5.5 Still a continued improvement... I remember all of a sudden realizing almost every single signal with my old stock said 4.5....and all of a sudden no deeper.... I was using it for a few weeks after I found the problem just to be sure....it continued to find coins...but not a beep over 4.5! Up to now the smaller 5.3 Eclipse has by far been the best and a great coil for me...great dime hits at 6.5....with that coil it does all I can ask and is my coinshooter coil... Well it is snowing here and it looks like I will stall short of 12,000 for the year. Thought it was within range but I need at least 7-8 good weather days and ground starting to freeze up...numbers have dropped a ton..do not think it is a slump...just taking a lot longer to get coins out of a few inches of frozen ground...
