AIR TESTING

I can get the 10 coil to air test at 13 inches , do you think it will hit that deep ? probably would with a halo , does anyone go very deep with the 8 inch coil ? I bet it will read 9 inches . any thoughts ?

Lucky you as even the Minelab Tech's will tell you an 7-8 inch air test meets their spec's..For some reason Explorers do not air test well as they seem to hate air and I always keep my coil close to ground. Now in the ground they sort of mix with the ground matrix and will go deeper depending on mineralization and your settings. Never seemed to get extreme depth with the 8 inch coil and prefer the stock 10.5 myself, but many do well with the 8 inch..Of coure your depth can vary due to mineralization, your settings and of course your abilities so really don't know if their is a accurate answer for your questions. Certainly not a technical answer, but feel the average detectorist should get the jist of my post..

I dont find as many coins with the 8 inch coil as i do with the standard coil. I seem to find more of the smaller mettalic targets with the 8 inch coil- i find smaller coils are better on smaller targets - small hammered uk coins love the 8 inch coil.
