Air tested 8 different 1943 Zinc Cents and discovered new to me

Using the Pro 11 coil and my Heavy trash & Heavy Iron program that I'd been using lately in my latest post on 5 Keepers, I got a surprise out of it. First I used the Multi-Tone pattern and passed several of the Zincs over the coil and got nothing so I went to Edit and used the accept check mark on the right side. I ran 8 1943 Zincs across the center of the coil several times each, which opened up my FE35 line . With each pass of each coin several time I would get a different multiple tone which I thought to be very weird. These are all the FE35 numbers they came up at FE 35-CO 31,33,34,35 37,40,42,44,45 and 47 they would almost never repeat the same number 2 times in a row, the numbers on the CO always changed but the FE always stayed the same. Now for the next surprize, When I went to my TTF program of the same pattern and pasted 3 different coins over the coil all I got was a null. No tone whatsoever and the bottom of the pattern is completely open from CO30 To CO50 but when I passed 2 and 3 coins stacked on top of each other in 2TF I got a tone each time and with totally different FE and CO numbers all over the place but always with a High Tone. Does anyone wonder why they are so hard to find. So What I will do for now on is to hunt them only with my Multi-Tone Heavy trash and Heavy Iron pattern now that I've edited (open) my FE 35 line with the above CO numbers. The tones are weird enough that I'll never miss one using multi-tone when I'm hunting for my Keeper coins

OK I screwed up. I went back and looked at my 2TF pattern and I had the FE line blacked out and everything from 34 to o1 opened. So when I re-opened up my FE 35 line from Co 30 to 50 then like normal in 2TF i could get a high tone everytime with a single 1943 penny and with the same mixed CO numbers. My over sight on my TTF High Trash & Heavy Iron program. You see I can learn something different every 5 minutes on this E-Trac. Now I know in Multi-tone program I can still find them because of there weird tones on the FE 35 line and I'll still get a high tone with them on the FE35 line in TTF. I can find them in both programs so its a win win for me.

Please explain. From the American Numismatic Association they were Zinc coated steel because copper was used for the war and in the 50's we called them a suckers dime because we would ask kids if they had change 2 nickel for a dime and we got our 2 nickels more than once! Sucker!!!

They are steel....I have found 3 of them but they were in a wheat spill with 1940s wheats, and they were all rusted

G4E, I gave 3 of them a hot peroxide bath and they frosted them, I dont like the looks of them now and I wont do that again. I'll guaranty If you use multi-tone and open up FE35 CO31,33,34,35,37,40,42,44,45,and 47 you wont pass up the weird tones you'll hear and everyone you dig will be a 1943 Zinc. I'd love for anyone to try those numbers in multi-tone and report back next spring. Remember they were Zinc coated steel and if the Zinc wore off then the steel will rust.

I,ve found 3 or 4 in coin spills (last one I remember was with a merc) and they have always been so rusty you couldnt make
any detail out at all. HH
