air test

How can a detector detect deeper in the ground than it can air test with no resistance. some say the halo affect. If the detector can't reach the coin with the " halo" how can it detect it? Of course if ur detector has superpowers or xray vision then maybe, but i can't c it happening. I've used a many a detector, ain't found 1 that detects deeper in the ground than it does in an air test. been detecting on and off since the mid 80's. used all makes and models

n/t

So when u buy a detector it makes no difference to u what it air tests at? a CZ air testing with a dime at 6" is o.k with u,u would buy it?

I didn't say anything about a CZ.......... Buying or not buying ..your asking that question now.. I responded to your how can question Above.

I simply said Multi frequency detectors detect better in the ground than they Air Test ..You also did not say anything about a CZ in your original post.......... I don't know enough about a CZ to know if that applies to the Two frequencies used on a CZ or not..........In answer to your original question the so called 17 & 28 frequency detectors do in fact detect deeper than they Air Test!. That is what I was referring to

my cz-21 detects way deeper in ground then air test. I dont get any depth at all on air test even on max sensitivity.

Halo affect is real and I have seen it many many times. With White's machines and with Fishers. Once you break the halo, the target dissapears but if you keep digging you will find it. I have pulled coins out of unbelievable depths on land and will continue to do so. Also the moisture content in the ground helps you find deeper targets.

I think you are posting on the wrong forum as this is a CZ forum(two freq.) not multiple but in most case for targets buried many years it will go as deep in the ground or deeper than air tests. If we found coins in the air certainly would be valuable info from air tests.
I feel you are talking about Minelab units with many freq's and they indeed air test poorly as have to mix with matrix of the ground and will go much deeper in the ground.

I know the word 'multiple' sounds like a fistful, but more than just one is multiple. The CZ falls in the category of a multi freq. detector.
