Air Test Question

Will an air test give me a much shorter range than earth? I was wondering if my Garrett needs a tune-up, so I ran my hand with my wedding band under it & I only was able to get about 4 or 5 inches with an 8.5 inch coil. DOes this sound about right?

Most likely in all metal motion mode, with sensitivity about 6 or 7. The reason I ask is that I bought a Master Hunter CXIII on ebay, but I have not had much time to use it. I have not had any solid signals below 3 or 4 inches, and a dime or penny at 3 inches was not giving a solid signal. It has been relativley dry in the Northeast, and I am sure that that is contributing, but you know how it is. When you don't get good hits for a while, you think something is wrong your equipment.

I compared it to my Whites Classic & it blows away the classic in the air test with a copper penny. You know how it is when all you seem to be finding is clad!

If that's all their is that's all you'll find. Silver hasn't been minted since 1964 and there ain't no elves out there sprinkling silver coins around. They are getting scarcer all the time.
