I wonder if she actually knew that it was old, not recently lost. If I had found it and knew for a fact that it was an old, old artifact, I am not too confident that I would have turned it it to the authorities. I enjoyed reading this link, thanks for posting it. of the government until they figure out if it is a Treasure Trove or not. If it is, you get fair market value for it. I can not imagine what the monatary value of that thing would really be.

I have a feeling the hiker had no idea what was found and was just curious .

Some of us are dumbasses with found items. But we learn
