This was the first red dot sight that could be mounted with rings, which enabled both right and left handed shooters to use the sight. Further this model had automatic light adjustment as well. It has no magnification (1x). It was launched in 1985 and discontinued in 1989. This is the long version which is 7.25". From my research it looks seems like this was originally used by branches of the military and is now considered a retro piece that is often put on military weapons of the late 80s and early 90s to complete their look. I put a new battery in it works great. It is in used condition and has some surface scratches on it however the optics look good and I don't see any visible scratches.
