After reaching my most productive search area the vaq would only make a continuous single hum. The only variation was a different hum for disc mode and all metal. Unplugging the coil made no difference and replugging changed nothing. The battery was new. I bought it from Ron's Dixie metal detectors less than two years ago but didn't find the mail in warranty card again until today when I looked in the box it was mailed in. Am I sol? on the warranty ? Maybe it won't matter if a coil wire is the problem. Someone had to be following me around cause Homer Simpson is too much like me to be a coincidence!

I'd call the factory and tell them what it is doing. They will probably have you send it to them. If the detector isn't obviously abused or modified, you will most likely have your Vaquero back soon, working like new. Warranty card or no card, they pretty much stand by their detectors.

Yup!

Much as us loyal Tesoro brethren love them, they do fail, from time to time.

I have a DOA here, myself.

Send it in to the nice folks in Prescott and they'll fix it right up.

Perfect time to buy a Compadre for backup was last week! :bouncy:
