Hi everyone. It's been about a year now I have been running my Tesoro Outlaw and really gave it all I had to learn and understand. Well, I gave up this weekend and decided to break out the trusty idx. I found 29 coins and only two trash items in 50 minutes. Man, it was a pleasure. I didnt have much time before picking my daughter up so I ran high disc and it felt great to know what I was digging with over 90 percent accuracy. I was fooled by a rusty washer and a grommet of some kind. No bottle caps, no aluminum, nothing. I havent done that with the Outlaw once in 11 months of almost daily hunting. Needless to say, the outlaw is going byby. I will save my ruppies for an M6!!!!

Nice to have you back......................................rupees better spent on the new MX5!!!!!!!!!!! Check it out dude. With it you'll be cookin.!!!!!!!!!!!

You Know, I just wish Whites would stop making some of their new models look like toys. It's like some of these new cars looking so "plastic" like. ...lol

Ivan, what does the Mx5 have that the M6 does not? I just went and looked at it again on Kellyco and man it just looks like a kids toy. I also don't really like the pp button being on the faceplate. It's constantly getting full of crap on the screen. I wish whites would just stick with the toggle underneath the unit like my Idx.

Stick with the M6.......it's one of the best all round machines ever made, simple with top performance.

What does the new MX5 have?????????? Newer updated soft ware.......faster response........notch capable (20 notches).....lighter weight, screen light for night hunting,,,,,,etc etc.....look a bit more closely.. M6 is nice but Whites isn't sitting still. Newer models come with improvements!

Improvements or just gimmicks.Metal detector manufacturers are not really improving the performance of their detectors because at the moment the technology won't allow it.What they are doing is bringing out machines that tempt buyers with features that will do nothing to improve finds rates. The M6 may be a tad heavier than the new machine but that is because it has a better quality build and feel.Apparently the new machine is based on the mxt software so it will be a good machine but it won't outperform the mxt which is one of whites upper end models. When you take into account the M6 performs just as well as the mxt,has better build quality than the new model and is the most simple to operate high performance model available, the mx5 looks to be just an exersize in gaining more sales by bringing out something new. This is what manufacturers have to do to be competitive.
Don't think that new machines automatically make them better as this just is'nt the case.

What turned me away from the MX5 is the fact it has no trac lock like the MXT, M6 and even the Coinmaster GT. This could be a problem in iron infested areas because the auto tracking will began to see the iron as a mineral and will start to track into it. With trac lock you can balance over clean ground and hold the setting. Why Whites didn't include the lock option on this machine is beyond me.

No Tracking Lock..........................that's too bad....I don't know how i missed that!!!Why would they leave this most important control....off? Now there is a reason to rush out and get an M6 before they are discontinued.
