Working a small playground here in CT with the DISC set at 5, I was just pecking around filling my pockets with change. I notice that I was able to get close to the playground metal piping and stairs finding all that was missed(clad) by others. So I started to go way under the playset and had a big bite. A 1.5g 10k gold wedding band! Hey it's not much but I'm happy.
I dug quite the many holes in the past 6 years with my old Radio Shack Bounty Hunter. But I tell you all the hair on my neck is standing straight out with my new toy-The Tiger Shark(only 10 days out). Great detector, thanks Tesoro
Where did the warm weather go? Its snowing again. My TS and I are itchen for a swim. HH

Good find Charles. You got a great machine for finding jewelry, use it often, dig foil and tab range signals and you'll get many more .

Since a lot of detecting forums seem to be pretty quiet the past week or two, I'll just add my 2 cents worth since we've still got a mess of ice and snow up here waiting for spring to actually show up.
Your experience isn't exactly out of the ordinary, IMO, especially using what a lot of people consider to be mainly a water detector on dry land. And it also shows that having more than one detector is anyone's best weapon to finding all you can, no matter where you happen to hunt. (Of course, totally ignoring and disproving once again the contention that hunting playgrounds is for wusses and not *real* hunting).
My two detectors are a relatively old Tesoro Silver Sabre II and a Troy Shadow X5. I can't get anywhere under 6" or so within those playground posts with the $1,000 X5 with a 7" coil, yet I can get within an inch or three of those posts with my $250 Tesoro and the stock 8" coil.
There are TONS of places I've run across where the X5 blows away my Sabre, but there are plenty of places where the Sabre outperforms. Again, it always comes down to using the best tool you might have for the ground you're in at the moment.
