66, and my first detector was a generic BFO just like the one in the photo below. It was a kit BFO that had a 6.5 inch coil and would only go maybe three inches deep at most on a quarter, and not much over half that on a dime. I bought it while Christmas shopping the night of December 22, 1969, and sat up all night soldering the components on the board. Got it going just after daylight the next morning, took it outside and the first signal was a Barber dime, barely under the surface of the ground, that had to have been hauled in with the fill dirt when my house was built. I was the only person using a detector here for a few years, so there was no competition and that little detector found massive amounts of coins at ballfields, parks and playgrounds for me Finding over 100 coins in a hunt was common, and also that many or more tabs and bottlecaps since it didn't have any discrimination other than nail size and smaller iron. Detectors have come a long way since then........
