Aftermarket DD coils for the Discovery series metal detectors

NEL makes DD coils for the Discovery series 6.6 khz metal detectors. I thought about buying one to use on my Big Bud Pro and Mark 1 LTD. Has anyone here did the same thing? I've heard some tried the F4 coil with mixed results. I'm thinking the new NEL coils should work better due to matching frequency of the older 1980s metal detectors.

I tried Mike and ordered two NEL coils for the Mark 1, Somehow the supplier didn't send my two NEL coils with special connectors to the dealer. Given a full refund for the mistake, so I ordered a regular 6.6 kHz coil and replaced the connector with a Mark 1 connector.

It's heavy, gets every bit of depth as the 10" Mark 1 coil. Only, Its heavy. Think it's the hunter type, little more coverage as well.

Thanks Paul for your input. I am seriously thinking of ordering a CORS Scout DD coil for my Mark 1. It should work as it is intended for Discovery series 1100/2200/3300 metal detectors with 6.6 khz and push in connector. Perfect for getting between trash and giving new life to older TeKnology. No pun intended.
I hope it works with the big bud pro. Only time will tell.

Wow! The scout coil appears to be similar to the NEL Hunter DD coil, here's my coil same size.

These are heavy, it's a good coil but remember it's heavy. I removed the connector added a Teknetics connector to the Hunter, Older Teknetics type same as push in. Also ordered special adaptor from eBay so the Hunter coil work's with older White's using same kHz. Purchased it couple years back, used to make my own but hands and sight are not what they used to be.

The DD helps the Mark I in tough soil, on the heavy side but it's ok on depth. And yes the scout will work with the Big Bud series.

Good luck, And enjoy the older detectors of yesterday.

I don't know what to do? Talked with the dealer who sells CORS coils and he said I can't get a refund if it(CORS coil for BH Discovery) doesn't work with the Mark 1. I wish I had a Discovery 2200/3300 coil to see it it's compatible with the Mark 1. I tried a newer 8" bounty hunter coil(not meant for a Discovery) and it didn't work with the Mark 1.
Puzzling...as the 1990s bounty hunter coils worked fine!

As long as the connector connect's on, the Cors coil should work if it's meant for the F2/F4. The newer connector is different, hopefully you asked for the older version connector?

Keep us posted,
Paul

Does anyone know if there are 13" coils made for BH Land Ranger Pro. One dealer said that Cors Strike has an adapter which will fit LRP. Is that really true.
