I just got out with the X-70 with the stock coil after a long cold winter with lots of snow, in a very trashy area. It was like a pinball machine, so I knocked everything below a penny. I found only 4 newer pennies no older than the 1970's, nothing good to write home about but a trial run. It was getting dark, I was on the ground digging on the edge of a back alley, and then I saw this car coming towards me then it stopped almost right beside me. I was a bit angry and said to myself, "take a picture it will last longer". Then I looked again and it was my 75 year old mother, haha, boy was I glad to see her. I had told her where I was going. She was very worried about me as it was getting dark. She was in her sleeping pyjamas and her drivers licence expired about 3 weeks ago, so I drove home. Mother's worry no matter how old we get as I am 48 and about 215 pounds. I guess you never know about drug dealers or criminals sneaking up when it is getting dark when we are on our knees digging or detecting with our back turned. It snowed the next day shutting down further detecting.
Then after that last night mom and I went to a fast food restaurant and I got my change, I looked and found an almost mint shape 1942 penny in the change! I told a complete stranger out loud, I got a 1942 penny in the change! He said "really", with no interest and walked away. The strangest places you find old coins!! But I will be back out in the field soon! Maybe I will have to get that 6" HF DD for those trashy areas.
