I have come back to using American made detectors. I got my first Whites in 79 and used every model since. Hundreds of detectors later and I'm down to two primary detectors. For our tough minerals in Culpepper Va. I have a TDI SL.For everything else the new MX5. I'm not a park hunter but with an open screen, (no discrimination) and tone ID in the disc. mode, the MX5 has the depth to find relics I also love the many coil options for both. Regards

George, I don't know much about the TDI, but the I do know the MX5 is a fine detector. I got a sef 10x12 on it and boy does it perform. As a matter of fact, it is as deep and accurate as any single frequency detector I have ever used. I can take the big coil into heavy trash and pick the high tone coins from junk. I don't know what it will do as a relic machine, but it is a coin magnet. I have dug some 9 inch deep coins with perfect tones and locked on numbers. I also run mine with a "wide open" screen and let the good numbers and tones poke through. You can't disable the tracking, but it has worked great in every spot I hunt. I am curious to see what the detector will do in the hands of an experienced relic hunter. I suspect it will do more than OK.
