After ground balancing the CZ where do you set the sens??

After trying it out yesterday the sens was at 10. I did not get a falsing report as I expected so I left it there. Is this normal? Where should it be for better responses? Still learning the CZ6. Which brings in another question, Mine is a CZ6 but has headphone jack. Does this make it a CZ6a??

Its still a CZ6 until the coil connector is changed along with the box to accomodate the new plug..Many original CZ6 plugs failed and kept loosing contact reason for the change. If yours does not no reason to do so as its expensive..Idea is to set sens. high enough and still have a stable unit. Remember it can be lowered but not increased lest you have to ground balance again so many set it higher than they feel they can run it at for this reason. Most units run stable 4 to 8 sens. and never found a place where I could run it max. Either you have real low mineralization or a unit tuned to accept high sens. After a while you will know just about how high you can go with sens. and set accordingly prior to ground balancing.

As usual Dan is spot on! If you do not already have a manual, the CZ-5 manual at the fisher web site is worth looking at. CZ-5 is pretty much the same animal.

If they changed the pig tail plug to a jack, maybe they changed the coil connector also ???
If they changed both, its still going to say CZ 6 on the control box.
Just a thought.

I HAVE A CZ-5,AND RUN THE SENS. AT ABOUT 10 MOST OF THE TIME.I TOO HAVE SEEN THE POSTS WHERE MOST PEOPLE RUN IT BETWEEN 4-7.IT'S WHAT EVER YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH,AND BE STABLE.

If you go to Tom Dankowski's site you can get a lot of good info about CZ's.
The cz-6 sen should be set between 4-5 for best performance. I don't think there is any gain above 5.
I am not 100% sure about this, but believe the sen control is actually two controls in one. 1-5 for sen, 6-10 for threshold which you use in the manual grd bal. process.

I believe you are talking about the CZ3D which is the newest CZ and has different sens. parameters and yep between 4-5 is optimum setting. However his unit can be set much higher than the 4 perhaps up to the 8 sens. parameter and keep a stable unit..
Relative your other aspect setting the volume at and sens. at Max(10) will give you a threshold of sorts and you will be able to hear the units sounds better for a more accurate ground balance..

CZ6 is a molded plug with four contacts and new plug can be worked if wire broken or bad solder joint on and has five contacts..True will still read CZ6 but technically same as a CZ6A if he wishes to check...

Dan, when you say molded plug, are you talking about the pig tail for the head phones ???

He says his has a jack.

Someone had it open to change the pig tail to a jack, so why not change the coil connector at the same time...

I have a CZ6 which came standard with a 4 pin coil connector and a pigtail headphone jack. The standard mod was to change the 4pin coil connector to the 5pin so you could use all of the new CZ coils and at the same time change the pigtail to a standard 1/4 ' jack. The original purpose of the pigtail so to make the unit more waterproof as that was the reason that the CZ6 did not have an internal speaker.

Disc 0, sen 4.3-4.9, volume 10 and dig some of those mid tones.

Don't know the answer to that one however talking about plug that hooks coil to control box..over the years have seen quite a few with just headphone jack changed. Pigtail was not liked by many or perhaps changed because it was faulty. I understand changing the plug from coil to box for some reason was expensive and if it was working correctly why change it. Many did fail but not all of them and when repaired Fisher did the job with the CZ6A plug. Remember this was in 1992 or 1993 and price for the change was about one third what it is now but doubt any were changed so the new coils could fit as CZ6A and CZ5 were in their infancy..All speculation but Fisher introduced a new plug with the CZ6 and as many failed(kept loosing contact) they switched to the CZ6A plug that is still being used 16 years later on the latest CZ3D and all the models in between..

Imagine acc. coils were made with 4 pin connector but would be lucky to find one so check E-bay and classifieds as you won't find a new one..Kicker is if even you got a five pin one doubt if Fisher even has any of the old 4 pin connectors or for that matter would put one on..Certainly not an electrical genius but if the 4 pin can be wired to the five pin connector certainly vice versa and theorize 5th connector must be a ground but give Fisher a call and get the info from one of their tech's. Perhaps after 16 years Fisher don't stock the 4 pin connector which was only used for a year but am sure they were bought from a distributor and may be able to purchase one that way. Certainly Fisher would have to tell you the wires route and before I bought a five pin would certainly be sure I could and remember its molded which is another problem. Good luck in your quest for a larger or smaller coil...

All they did was change the connector to a five pin because it is a better conn., but the center pin is not used. There are only 4 wires from the coil. 2 pair from the coil.
I can't remember what it look,s like on the control box end but should be a pretty simple swap. If yu contact Filex at fisher and beg he may sell you a set. If your 4 pin is ok probably know reason to change, but if yur coil fails or you want to get the 5" or 10.5" coils you'd be hooped.
