After a slow start in a frosted field...

I also dug up two large weed cutters, fairly distant from each other, but I'll have to take another photo of them... The pic I took came out completely blurry...
 
Interesting finds likely WW 2 Canadian ordinance.
Is this area a former battlefield ?
 
The whole plateau above Trieste was a battlefield, during many wars... The main problems are, there's just so much iron debris and the topsoil is so thin, that just to dig up one single target, I wear myself down and the edge on my digging tool looses it's sharpness...
I'm especially looking to detect on land exposed to the south, as that's where older settlements were situated. Mountfitchet, England, is a great example of a very old settlement, check it out in the web.
