I found all these insulators and bottles just sticking out of mud at the river. The watch you see found at beach.......the first one to acually still work...Seiko...made in Japan.

Very nice Mattockman. I know of an area not far from here where the old insulators are still attached to the tree trunks. All you need is a ladder to get to them! I spy them everytime I'm in the bush! Most are ceramic, but some are glass.

I made a picker from these materials....only use on ones that are not still live or have wires attached.missing in pics is a 1/2inch drive universal joint for socket to let boot hang and move freely.Fiberglass extention pole it expands to 32 feet, with 1/2" drive ratchet attached(taped on)1/2" drive -1 1/4 socket to fit top fitting on boot. I had to tape on universal and socket so it didn't fall out cause it got heavy. bought 4" rubber boot from plumbing isle and found other parts to fit and reduce down to the top fitting which socket goes over. Pipe clamps hold on rubber boot and adjusts to size of insulator on opposite side, just adjust to approx. size of insulator and drop on top of it and turn but you have to pull off and do it again till it is off threads then just knock off pin and catch. I wish the ratchet worked better but once it is loose it turns to easy to ratchet, thats why you have to keep lifting it off and turn again. But it works......no climbing trees or poles.Any questions just ask.
