After 25 years - finally hit Gold!!!!

I don't post alot on the forums. I just enjoy reading all the posts that you people place on the forums, especially this one. I was out today at a local park that has been pounded by myself and many others. Dug an "iffy" target and could not believe my eyes. It was not a pull tab! It was a ring - and a very nice one at that. I looked for the telltale signs of "flaking" and could not see any, so I suspected that I had finally found a good one. Getting home quickly, I washed the ring and found my magnifier (my eyes aren't what they used to be), and it was verified 14K. Blown away, and still could not believe it.

I attribute this find to three things. 1. Persistance with digging trash. I have dug enough trash over the years to fill a garbage truck. 2. My machine is a Tesoro Cibola running at 14 khz, an ideal frequency for gold. I also use the cleansweep coil and cover ground faster. 3. Just plain old luck, and I say a little prayer to god to allow me to find something good. That's about it folks. Just remember to run your disc just above iron and dig junk.

Hey, you''re an inspiration. I don't feel so bad about my gold drought now. Them Tesoroes sure hit the nickel/gold area hard, don't they?

I can hardly believe you stuck it out,...digging all those pulltabs etc.

A testament to human will. Big congrats.

What are we without hope?....

Congrats! One of my first trips was a trashy freshwater lake beach, and pulled up a tab, listened to my mentor's advise, and checked hole again, dug down and found a gold nugget ring with 6 small diamonds. mans, sold for about $300 new back then. My little girl was with me. good luck piece i guess. I have found several, including a 1931 class ring. Research led me to an 86 year old lady, and a happy return. She was one of two living in her class of 13 students. found it in 2000. 15 years earlier the first time i ever went out with a loaner, micronta cheapo, and a friend, i found a wedding band. that spoiled me, but it was years before i could get a machine and hunt more. spoiled to some good spots, now rarely get to go, but plan on getting active if possible. keep hunting!
