After 2 1/2 years I sold my Ace 250

And I bought a brand new one! :clapping: I have been watching the auction prices and saw that the used ones were bringing as much as the new ones. So I stuck the old 250 on the big auction. I got 183.50 out of it! Plus shipping of $14.99. Thats a total of $198.49
Minus the actual shipping of $9.45 give me a net profit of $189.04 Then I ordered a brand new 250 for $189.00 that included shipping. So I got a new 250 plus 4 cents to boot. There's no other detector that you can do that with! I still have my water proof 250 "Lake Looter" that's sporting a new waterproof pinpoint switch and new lower rod from Melinda @ Garrett. I'm ready to go now! Land or Sea ( fresh water) :super:

-I remember seeing the development of the Lake-Looter but I can't recall any posts showing your finds.
I am sure there were finds to be had though.
amazing selling your 250 for that price. I probably would sell mine for that also unless I couldn't get another. gotta burn up a few more batteries to find enough to purchase a sniper coil and another lower rod. I am almost there!!!

I posted some pictures late last summer of my finds. The first time out I think I recovered 5 rings and a gold chain. Maybe you could so a search? It just takes a little bit of gold to pay for the Ace 250!

That free log book you tossed in probably sealed the deal...........

wow, that is seriously nuts! did u ebay it?

I bought mine brand new for $199 including shipping. Whoever bought it is very UNinformed, congrats to you!!

I would be curious to see your description. I bought an ACE that was in awesome shape for $175. I wonder if you calculated in your listing fees. I have been avoiding ebay because of the fees. This gives the buyer great leverage and the seller makes out better.

Awhitser,
Were you watching the sale? Because I did throw in a log book and a $3.00 digger. Hey whatever it takes......

Neil,
Your right. I didn't calculate my fees. I had about $8.00 in fees. So I didn't come out 4 cent positive. I was about $8.00 down. But still worth the effort..

I put a reserve of $165.00 on the 250. To my surprise it brought $183.50. Not bad for a detector built in 2005. I just took a lot of pictures and threw in a log book and cheap digger.

Neil,
I think this link to the 250's listing page will still work. I think it sold so high because I had a Pussy cat in the picture!

SOOooooooo I wonder what lucky "so and so" will end up with your old one?
Maybe he/she will end up posting here. I hope you put your initials on it!

Never much cared for Ebay. Still don't but I guess you CAN get some good deals. I prefer the
warranty for the new ones myself. I've had to use the warranty just once and that was on the coil.

Keep in mind that some manufacturers warranties are transferable. The DFX I am buying has 1 year & 3 month left. As far as eBay goes.....I recommend asking around on the forums rather than using eBay. That is how I got a better deal, and the seller does not have to pay fees. I got my DFX (sorry Garrett) for about $50 less than the going eBay price by dealing direct. The seller still comes out ahead in the end by saving on the new eBay fees. PLUS, I am not dealing with a total stranger, I was even able to check his background by looking at all of his posts in the forums from the last year!

Without fees my 250 would have been about $175.00
I don't think anyone here would have given me that price for a detector made in 2005.
I wouldn't give $175.00 plus shipping for a used 250 when I could add another $14.00 to that and buy a new one that includes shipping.
