Advice

I posted in the general forum about considering getting a GTI 2500 and Gold Stinger or if something would be better. I was advised to stay away from these, because they are outdated. I wasn't too convinced that new technology is always better and was wondering what users of these detectors think. I've had people recommend the AT PRO, White's V3i, Fisher F70 and F75, Tektonics F2 and G2 and Tesoro Vaquero(I think that's right). I'm not questioning them and their judgement and hope I don't upset any of them by referencing their advice. I know they mean well and are given their honest opinions with their experience. I've just got burned buying into the hype of newer, better technology before and don't want it to happen again if I can help it and figured that talking with people who use these detectors might help me make an informed decision. I'm just curious as to the depths you get, accuracy, and if anyone has used these in areas with red clay soil.

First...describe your hunting style...ie coins? jewellery? relics? prospecting? depth requirements.....

Second......do you hunt in parks, sports fields, woods, water, ploughed fields and what type of mineralization do you have to deal with.

Sorry, should've added that. I'm primarily into relics and wanting to do a little gold prospecting. I was thinking 2 machines, because a lot of people say there's not a machine good at both due to the different operating frequencies. I know we've got a lot of zinc in the soil as well as other minerals in red clay in East TN. I, for now, have been on my family's lands hunting but am looking toward branching into other locations, which I'll have to do for prospecting. I'm not sure about depth. I'd like deeper than the White's Spectrum I've been borrowing, and hopefullymore capable of dealing with the mineralization as well.

Anything else I forgot to mention? I'm kinda new to buying detectors and don't know what to look for.
