Advice

Need advice for a new E-Trac user.:surrender:
This is the first machine for this person.

- Read the manual
- Read any and all info available (books, forums, etc)
- Use the emulator to familiarize yourself with the interface and tones (while being aware that the tones can differ in real life)
- Do some bench testing
- Use the machine and dig everything for a while until you can anticipate what is in the ground (at least to some degree)
- Hunt with others that have the same machine and compare notes, settings and observations

All of the above, but most importantly, get Andy Sabich's book: The Minelab Explorer and E Trac Handbook. This book gives all the information that the manual lacks. Also lots of great tips. A must for an E Trac owner.

I'll 2nd that! Read Andy's book, that will give you a good working knowledge of the theory behind the e-trac and it's 'funnies'. Then it is just a case of getting out and practicing, being patient and getting it all to 'click'.

Read and Andy's book again after about 30 hours on the e-trac and it will make a lot more sense.

I've found the E-trac loves a slow swing speed when your in the trash/iron.

Start with a fairly tight pattern and then open it up as you gain confidence in the machine.

Hope you enjoy the e-trac as much as I do!
