Advice please attaching Pluggers knob guard to Anderson CF long shaft?

Hi, I was fortunate to score an Excal 2 with the Anderson carbon fiber long shaft tonight. While awaiting delivery I already ordered the knob guard at less than $30. delivered. I see the Anderson CF shaft uses the old button clips. I figure I can replace them with nylon or non metal threaded bolts & wingnuts to attach the knob guard and control pod all together on the shaft. I figure some has already done this and I am thinking about how solid the setup would be.
I'm real careful with my detectors & equipment and will give this Excal a good home.
Thank you in advance & HH!

The knob guard i got came with SS bolds, rubber head guards, and nylon washers. Which makes it SOLID on the rod.... i made my rod but use a spring clip for the battery pod. I prefer to remove my pod rather than chanrge it on the rod.

Nice. That was pluggers knob guard? I didn't see where the hardware was included with the guard, that would be perfect.
I appreciate the response. I've contemplated taking the "plunge" into the excal for many years. The information shared here helps me very much. This "new to me" Excal 2 rounds out my water detectors.

On pluggers site the inclusion of nylon hardware etc. Darn tiny phone screen makes it easy to miss details too. I wonder if I shouldn't try the stainless hardware and nylon washers for a backup as Dew replied he likes that set up. I like to get all the bits sorted before entering the water as that's the worst place to find out something doesn't work well.

Thinking about it ..... mine may be an Andersons', but heres a photo.
