ADVICE ON THE F75 COILS

I AM LOOKING TO BUY A SMALLER COIL FOR MY F75 AND WANTED TO KNOW WHICH WOULD BE BETTER FOR HUNTING TRASHY CIVIL WAR CAMPSITES. THE 5 INCH DD OR THE 3 X 6 INCH ELLIPTICAL COIL. THE PLACES I'M HUNTING ARE CHALK FULL OF SQUARE NAILS AND I HAVE FOUND SOME NICE STUFF WITH THE 11 INCH DD COIL BUT THINK I MIGHT DO BETTER WITH ONE OF THE 2 SMALLER ONES. ANYBODY HAVE IN SUGGESTIONS I WOULD APPRECIATE THE INFO. THANKS

I suspect both would be good, but I can speak for the 61/2." I hunt very trashy spots and the 61/2" elliptical gets at least equal swinging time to the stock DD. One fellow I run into on occasion uses the 5" and we both think my 61/2" gets a bit more depth. If you hunt in the trash a lot, one or the other is almost a must, IMHO. HH jim tn

THANKS, THAT'S ABOUT WHAT I HAD DECIDED TO GET WAS THE ELLIPTICAL COIL AND THAT'S ALL I HUNT MOST OF THE TIME IS TRASHY AREAS IN CAMPSITES. THE 11 INCH IS FINDING SOME GOOD STUFF BUT I KNOW AS MANY NAILS THAT ARE IN THE GROUND IT'S NOT GETTING THROUGH ALL OF THEM. I'M GOING TO TRY THE 3X6 INCH AND A FRIEND OF MINE HAS THE THE 5 INCH IF I NEVER NEED TO USE IT. THANKS FOR THE ADVICE JIM!!!!!

Jim,

I think that the 6 1/2 and the 5 inch have about the same depth but with the 6 1/2 it is a concentric coil and you have to overlap more with it. That being said, I think that you can actually cover more ground with the 5 inch DD with the same depth and I think a tad bit better separation. I don't think you can go wrong with either coil. Just my 2 cents.

PryorCreekJoe, your 2 cents has a great deal of value. You are correct about the necessity of a good overlap with the 61/2" coil. Of which, I don't have a problem with as in the trash, I just inch my way along anyway. Thanks, HH jim tn
