Advice on small searchcoil

MikeinIndy

New member
I need opinions on what type of small searchcoil to purchase for my XLT. I hunt old homesites, am somewhat new to detecting, and am interested in better results in trashy areas. Any additional info on programs and or sweep techniques for these smaller coils is appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

I would get the 5.3 or 4x6 coil and work slow around the trash / iron. If you can set the Recovery Speed, run it rather high. Also, Tone ID works great in trash, you can hear a good target next to a bad one. Check the classifieds for these coils as they pop up from time to time, and get an extra lower rod to make changing them easier. Ron

The bullseye coil is a great coil to hunt in trashy areas with the xlt.I use it all the time with my xlt and have had great results.

Mostly use the 5.3 Black Max on the XLT including the trashy parks and schools. Tried the 4" x6" shooter and seemed to have good target separation but sold it as i felt it was too weak on depth. The 350 snooper is stronger than the 4x6 but find it difficult getting used to on the end of an XLT and more suitable for the classic models. The 5.3 is the best smaller coil on the XLT imo.
