Advice on coils for the beach

cash

New member
I just bought a Vaquero and would like to get some advice for buying a coil for the beach. I used a 5X10 on my white"s goldmaster and liked it alot, and I see the 5X10 is offered in a Wide-scan. Is the depth about the same as the stock 8X9? Would the wide-scan handle the salt conditions better? Has anybody used the 10X12 wide-scan on the beach? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Cash

I used the 3 x 18" cleansweep coil on the beach several times with my Vaquero. Covers a lot of ground real fast. It nicely picked up a dime I buried in the dry sand 5" deep. Good for newly dropped jewelry, is sensitive to tiny metal and pinpointing with the front tip is dead on. Works in the wet sand but not as deep as in the dry sand. I like it better than the 9 x 8" because I can walk faster and cover more ground.

thanks for the info, Jabbo. i'm taking a first time trip to the outer banks and plan to use my minelab sov on the wet sand, but want something fast responding to cover alot of ground on the dry sand. sounds like the 3x18 is the ticket. thanks again, cash
