Advice on accessories for a beginner

Hello. I am new to the site & metal detecting. I have been thinking about getting into the sport/hobby for a while now and I am hoping that people here will help me out.
First off, I would like to use the detector in the water as well as on shore. I don't dive, but I would plan on wading. Being that I'm from Michigan, it would be fresh water. We camp a lot in the summer at state parks and I suspect that this is when and where the detector would get most of its use.
After all of my research, I am leaning toward the Tesoro Tiger Shark. I read that it works well in fresh water and pretty good on land. I gather that it also is better on gold than some of the other options in the price range. I feel that is important because lost jewelry is one thing that I hope to find.
Feel free to comment on that choice, but I also wanted some advice on the accessories that I will need to help me search. As I mentioned earlier, I have no prior experience.
Thanks.

Check out the beach and water detecting forum.... Some of the folks are up your way also, maybe you could go out with them so they can show you some pointers.
