Advice 5900 Di pro/sl

Eric

New member
Hi,

I have a 5900 di pro/sl. It looks very nice with only light marks of using. It has the BM 950 deepscan coil. The whole machine including meter is in nice shape.
There is only one thing.... the disc modes dont seem to work. I think they are stuck in all metal. This never bothered me as I only hunt in the SAT mode just like I do with the XL pro.

But is a reasonable price to ask for this machine?

Thanks, Eric

Hi Eric,

Sounds like the disc selector switch is not working properly and stuck on GEB/S.A.T. mode, That's a good mode to use but allot of Whites users especially beginners prefer the GEB/DISC mode.

If that is the problem the price would greatly vary from top dollar down to being sold (As-Is) at a low fixer upper price, Hard to say what it's worth with the disc/mode feature problem. Anywhere from $125-$175. You have to take into account this is a major problem not allowing the user to get full potential from the detector.

Try spraying Electronics Cleaner inside the switch pot working the knob side to side, See if this helps.

Paul,

thank you for your answer. I will follow up your tip and otherwise have it checked by a technician. I still is a very nice machine!

Hi Eric,

I may have a spare disc selector switch off a 6000 Di-Pro circuit board, In fact seen it last week while going through a few boxes of broken detectors.

I'm sure the switches are identical on both the 5900 & 6000.

If your selector switch is bad let me know if you need it, I'll send it too you (free)

I love older machines like that. Where else can you get yesterdays technology at dirt cheap prices. I tend to think very highly of the 5900/6000 series. The only place the new machines have you is in ID and Discrimanation if they have true notch ability. For coin shooting and relic hunting these things will go just as deep as the new stuff.
