Advantage find

I really wish we had an Advantage forum-I really like this machine and love to read what you guys say about it-all good stuff. Anyway-found this 1743 Georgivs II coin this morning in the woods about 50' from an old colonial road. One my oldest.

The Advantage had it's heyday on another forum but seems to have lost it's luster as of late as far as posting but not on performance.I certainly enjoy mine and feel for what i paid for it a few years ago it is a bonified bargain considering the depth and discrimination qualities of this detector. Congrats on your your very nice find !! HH Bill

Extra nice find !!! I didn't realize how deep those machine were.

That's a nice King George. Even nicer to find one with a date. Ron

regardless of what part of the US you are hunting. I can't imagine finding a coin that predates the Declaration of Independence by 1/3 of a century. Outstanding. Since they don't have a Musky forum, feel free to post about the Advantage here at the X-Terra forum. Just so happens that the moderator also enjoys using his Musky on certain occassions. :detecting: As we have discussed many times, it has to be the most underrated detector on the market. So much more to it than most people will ever know. Congratulations on a nice find! HH Randy

You are correct about the Musky being a great machine. Often overlooked.

Minelab offers the TS800 DD coil and TS1000 DD coil. .

Coiltek makes a 15" WOT DD coil.

And EXcellerator has the 5" DD, 12.5" DD and the 14" DD

These coils are "backward compatible" with previous versions of the Musketeer series. However, the older Musketeer series coils (from the Sterling, Tribune, Musketeer X etc) do not all work on the Advantage.

Thanks, Randy. I have a TS800 and 5" Excelerator; which would you suggest for a larger coil?

Thanks and HH,
Steve

The older I get, the less I use larger coils. In fact, I seldom use anything larger than the TS800 with my Advantage. The TS800 is nearly as deep as the TS1000 (within 10%) and provides me all the depth I need for coinshooting the fields. And, I can work the smaller coils around corn stubble and weeds better than the larger coils. Granted, the larger coils will cover more ground with each sweep. But with my health situation, it isn't worth the trade off.
With that said, if you don't mind swinging the bigger coils, the deepest coil I have ever used with my Advantage is the CoilTek 15-inch WOT. A few years ago, I spent quite a bit of time looking for a couple post hole banks. (never found them) I was pulling fist sized targets at depths of over 24 inches with the WOT. What surprised me is that while being that deep on the larger objects, it was still sensitive to coin sized targets at "normal" depths. If I still had the WOT I would send it to you to try out. But I sold it last year. I do have a TS1000 if you want to borrow it and try it out. Let me know. HH Randy

Thanks for your feedback and generous offer, Randy; I'd like to take a rain check, if I can. This weekend is probably the last chance I'll have to detect until spring unless we have a mild winter. The Advantage is off to Minelab next week to repair the ground balance and to have a general checkup and tweaking. HH - Steve

how good is the advantage? iam thinking off getting one. is it as deep as the sov. or x-terra's i checked one out at kellyco about a month ago seem like a well built detector

The Musketeer Advantage is, without a doubt, the best non-metered detector available today. It is deeper, more sensitive and separates targets better than any of the rest. Hands down, it will outhunt the rest.

Here is a closer shot of the pic in the brochure. It is a group of finds I made with the Advantage during a 6-month period of time. All taken from private yards here in town. And all during what is typically considered winter around here.

Same detector. But I believe the Pro kit includes the NiMH rechargeable battery kit and the bracket that allows you to mount the housing under the armrest. I used my Advantage for several years before I bought the bracket to move the housing. But this past year, I decided to buy a straight shaft assembly which I like very much. The one used on the Sovereign GT will work just fine. But I think the one I bought is one that is used on one of Minelab's gold machines. Not sure which one. But it is blue instead of black. Regardless either will match the color combination of the Advantage. HH Randy
