I know just enough about this great detector to be dangerous so bear with me. Once you set options in the advanced mode(recovery, edit, etc.)and then return to quickstart, do you lose the ability of those options set in advanced at the same time or are they still functioning in quickstart? thks!!!!

When you go from Advance to factory Quickstart then back to Advance you don't loose the 6 save programs but all other setting will be back to factory default, which are sensitivity value16, auto sensitivity, conduct, Th.Tone 5, Variability 8, gain 5, fast&deep off, Iron Mask -6. These will all have to be reset to what you like when you go back to Advance from Quickstart. I don't see why anyone would need to go back to quickstart, but if it happens by mistake, it's not hard to reset just go to Menu then Options, and click on Advance.

I don't mean a complete return to factory quicksart just backing out of advanced settings to get to the quickstart screen display. What I'm trying to do when pressing the detect button is to display just two screens(smart, digital) instead of getting 4 screens when in advanced(smart, digital, edit, learn). It just seems to be a lot of button pushing in advanced mode when checking a target and then switching to digital to check numbers and then pushing the button at least 3 more times to get back to the smart display. thks!!

to punch the the detect button 4 quick times, your back to the original screen-the microprocessor is quick. I don't know of any other way to get back any sooner.

If you do all of your program changes in Advanced mode you can then push Quickstart and then Detect and all changes will still be active. The only exception is the Audio changes. The program will not allow them to be changed (and saved) unless you are in Advanced mode. I set my Explorer up that way all the time and it saves a lot of button pushing (4) between Smartfind and Digital plus a lot less wear and tear on the button.

Thanks a bunch Ralph!!! I was hoping I'd find you. I knew there had to be a plan, just to many button pushes if left in advanced. Love that X-1!! Mike

MJP,
That is what I recommended years ago as that would have been the most convenient!
