<img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> Can someone tell me ..I bought an old ADS vlf/tr deepseeker recently, it seems to work OK I guess.
But I have noticed the search coil clamp bolt is made of brass (or similar).Would this affect the sensitivity (considering that the first six inches or so of the shaft is made from a non conductive material? ..Is this a factory item from original?
Thanx

Older units all had a mettalic screw for the coil. My understanding didn't affect its performance. With he advent of newer more powerful units seems they now have a non mettalic screw...

I have a 1981 ADS Ground hog with the all metal shaft and the brass coil hardware.I do not have any problem with depth. The best way I have found to hunt with the ADS is to run sensitivity about 30 to 40 percent, disc set to knock out foil, run in all metal and when you get a hit switch to TR and check it.On my unit if the signal is the same in TR it is a tab or a nickle,if it is louder it's a coin or high conductive metal,of course if it goes silent it is trash.Ground balance your unit correctly and it will surprise you how many things you will find.If you take time to learn your detector you will find the goodies.Hope this helps.
