I just bought a new Cortes but regretfully it is unusable in Discriminate mode in the area I live in (it's in Europe). The preset GB is quite negative and it gives so much chatter in discriminate mode, even with the sensitivity set to 1, that it is unworkable. Sending it back to Tesoro in US is not really an option for me for several reasons. Has anyone found how the preset ground balance can be adjusted? It should be quite easy...

Adjusting the preset GB on Cortes

There is obviously something wrong with your detector. I live in Poland and have had several Corteses, usually run my detectors at full sensivity and never had such problems. You will find a lot of advice in post bellow "I adjusted the disc mode pre-set ground balance trimmer pot". You will need a piece of ferrite or a magnetic stone to do that.
