Adjusting the GB on the golden umax does it change the range of tones?

I noticed the nickel would cut in a tad lower after I adj the GB maybe it's just me?!

Several have posted that it indeed does. Then, they tried adjusting the tones, and ended up with a mess that took forever to get back close to what it was. This maybe be one of the reasons it comes without adjustable g/b. Any comments, Allcav?

Ground balance settings affect everything, including sensitivity to certain conductive ranges. Just stay away from the tones pot as slingshot states.

If you ever get a detector with some form of target id (tones or visual) and manual ground balance control that works in the Disc mode, you can see how ground balance settings affect sensitivity. For instance, high ground balance settings will affect sensitivity to high conductive objects, and low ground balance settings (near the salt conductive range) will affect sensitivity to low conductive objects. It is normal and affects all detectors.

Thanks I thought that was the case , I haven't touched the tone pot I guess I will leave everything alone, oh yeah I got my clean and sweep coil today , talking about some major ground coverage !! Thanks for the info, much appreciated , Hank

I haven't tried the gb on it yet, I only did the 9+8 coil balance, but testing coins it did ok, no problems here,
