adjusting Frequency on AT pro

Hello, I was detecting yesterday in my parents back yard and there are overhead power lines in the alley behind the house and an overhead line from their house to the pole. I had my detector set at Pro Zero. But is was going crazy. Making all kinds of noise just sitting in one spot. I adjusted the frequency down to F1. That helped, but it still was very noisy. Is that all I can do in a situation like this? Or is there something else that can be done? I was still able to find some coins, so it didn't keep me from finding things, it was just annoying.
Thanks, for any help you can give me. I'm sure I will run into this again.

Either turn down sensitivity, try a different frequency or move to another site where the EMI is not an issue. Good luck!

As you probably know, there are 3 frequencies to try. Select the quietest. If it is still chattering lower the sen as John mentioned until it quiets down. Also, sometimes a smaller coil if available will help quiet the A T down, too. Sounds like you have a tough spot emi wise. Good luck! HH jim tn

Mine went totally crazy 2 days ago. No idea what caused it. No power or phone lines in the area. I had detected the exact same place the day before with no problem.

I changed areas and it was still nuts. I finally removed the battery and reinstalled it in a couple minutes and it worked fine after that ????????

Yes. To prove it, find a target at full sensitivity and 6-10" depth, then start turning down the sensitivity until you can't hear the target. That'll give you an idea of how it works.

The AT Pro's operating frequency is 15kHz and the 'sub channels' for switching are 'minute', 15465kHz for F1 and 15198kHz for F4 which, is a shift of between 97hz - 197hz between the 4 channel choices and not huge shifts at all.

In my experience, interference from power lines is very hard to block out and that is more or less the same for many of the current crop of detectors I've used thru the last several years.

A good tip is to move away and reduce Sens and not to walk directly underneath them.
