Adding GB pot to Gold Mountain King Cobra (Golden Sabre clone)

I understand that my Gold Mountain King Cobra is a sort of copy of the original Golden Sabre (I believe Tesoro even filed a lawsuit against GMT or something).

Anyway, what spec pot do I buy to add a full size external GB knob? The photo shows the stock mini pot which is adjusted for average conditions at the factory. I hope to buy the pot from www.maplin.co.uk if such a thing is available.

Once I have fitted it, how do I ground balance the machine correctly (sorry if that's a silly question)

Thanks :)

That photo is of a King Cobra board but it's a little misleading. You may already know it but it shows the board pulled part of the way out of the housing and where the pots were located, not the actual pots. The faceplate is out of the photo to the right. If you pull the board of your King Cobra and hold the face place toward you, you'll see the two trim pots. The ground balance pot is the trimmer pot the the farthest from the face plate, the notch width pot is the closest to the face plate. Off hand I can't remember the pot values but do a search for Paul (Ca) and send him a private message, he can tell you as he converted his King Cobra not long ago. You'll need miniature pots, and finding a place to put them is a problem. Photo show where Paul mounted the pots on his King Cobra.

Tesoro's Golden Sabre Plus. The Golden Sabre didn't have the dual tone. The Golded Sabre Plus had the dual-tone audio, like the Royal Sabre, and also operated at 15 kHz (Tesoro's info) which was the same as the King Cobra.

Just remember that you run the risk of damaging a detector and the value is almost zip. :(

I'd simply tweak the GB trimmer for the worst ground where you're likely to hunt, then go enjoy the King Cobra. I worked with a lot of King Cobras as a distributor, mainly working moderate to highly mineralized locations, and once I tweaked it (not TOO positive, just slightly) I NEVER had a problem.
