Adding a Cable Extension - How Would I Waterproof?

If I wanted to add a 5' cable extension to my coil, mostly my 10x12, so I can remote my control box to the inside pocket on my chest waders what are my options?

I have self-fusing "Rescue Tape" but that would require cutting and re-taping if I want to swap coils and I want to avoid nicking the wire coating.

Couldn't find anything except for the full waterproof mods on the forum or google searches.

I remeber years ago we had to fix the wires going to our water pump in the well and we got some special heat shrink tubing. Not sure if they make it big enough in diameter to fit your needs, and they also have what I call electrical black tape in a can but not sure how waterproof it is. Just a couple things that popped into my head.

What you suggest or rescue tape may be the best options for a watertight seal. I was hoping someone may have used another method to waterproof the connectors between the coil and extension that allows for a quick and easy way to separate the two in the field if I wanted to swap coils.

Thank you for the feedback.

That looks like a keeper. I like the idea of it being clear so I could check for a leak and I'd only have to carry some snips & a couple extra ties.

Thank you

Here's an IP68 (waterproof) connector found on ebay under---IP68 waterproof cable connector.[attachment 291792 waterproofcableconnector.JPG] I have used this type of connector on my Tiger Shark, and they work well.

They have the coils with 8' cords also then you could sell the one you have with a 3' cord. If thats what you have. Good luck hh

I soldered in a cable extension on this unit and used 1 minute epoxy 2 part over each wire. Once dry I covered the wires over with plastidip. Never had any problems

Thanks for the input but I want the ability to swap coils and not modify components; I've seen a few posts on those Compadre waders, nice.
