Addicted to detecting

It's crazy.......all I want to do anymore is detect. I work all day and am tired and tell myself to go home but after work I can't control my obsession to detect and have to hit the fields until dark. Every single day!! My wife get's mad because on the weekends I don't want to do anything but detect!! Tis the season to detect!! What can I do to stop the madness?? :stars:

The bug has hit. It's a fun hobby, plus you get paid. Can't say that about many other hobbies. Have you offered to take your wife out detecting? Have her detect and you dig. You might have some competition. Larry was quite surprised how much I loved detecting. Now I give him a run for his money. Just wait till you bring home that big shiny clear stone and gold ring or bracelet. I bet she won't say a word about you going metal detecting. But please remember your first love IS your wife. HH, Nancy

My wife has given up on me. I like to sneak out first thing in the morning while she's still sleeping. That way she can't be mad when I get back, as I say hey, didn't want to wake you from your beauty sleep.

Good luck/Cliff

Addicted, well I never thought of it that way but I guess you could say that. When I am not detecting I am thinking about places to detect or I am on this forum talking about detecting, go to bed with detecting on my mine, wake up thinking about it....:detecting:... No I am not addicted.........I just like to detect......:lmfao:

Seriously I know how you feel. I've detected for 6 years now and still feel the same way. I have to make myself balance time for both. Good luck with it.

I warn newbies that this hobby can be very addicting. Looks like I missed you! I don't have a problem with it myself - the fact that I have 7 detectors, lots of coils, diggers, pinpointers and headphones doesn't indicate any addiction or strangeness, does it? The main thing that slows me down is the winter weather and short daylight, but insulated coveralls and a head light or two should take care of those problems. LOL Dig deep and dig often.

Keep it up and your wife will make a decision for you. Hope you like sleeping with you detector. Maybe you could slip a flimsy nightie on it and pretend.

I've been at it for 22 years and it only gets worse...uh...better.. whatever.:clapping::clapping::clapping: Now that I'm retired it's nobodys fault but mine if I don't get out there and believe me I get out there.:twodetecting:

Well, it definitely keeps me out of the bars and casinos. Fortunately my wife likes to detect when she has time to join me so I don't get too much grief over my detector time.
