Ace can stand with the best

I just wanted to let someone know that my little ACE 250 out hunted a Whites DFX this weekend.I was hunting at a school near my home and I was very excited because I just bought a 4.5 coil and I was eager to try it out.Well when I arived at my hunting spot I found another hunter there I was very pleased to see him and went right up to talk to him but he didnt have much to say.He made me feel like I was molesting his hunt.I noticed that he was using a Whites DFX so I asked him how he liked it and he never even raised his head to look at me but said that he has been hunting for30 years and that he liked it fine.I got the hint so I told him I was going to hunt the edge of the sidewalk leading to the school he said that he had already been there. But thats was my game plan and I always stick to the plan.No sooner did I start but my little Ace started singing I looked over at the man and he was looking at me . This went on for about a half hour and then on my 40th coin I looked up again and he was pulling out of the parking lot.Im not a person who likes to rub things in but I wanted to let people know that this little machine can stand up with the best of them. Ok maybe I am rubbing a little....$2.77 in a half hour from a spot that had already been hunted that day.I love this machine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great story! There have been several stories similar to that one lately. The proof is in the finds.....Not always in the ads.

It makes me feel good to hear your story. WHat does it takle to stand up and say hi properly to someone? Sure I have had bad days and have not been pleasent, but really.

The time you spent on your knees should have made him rethink his protectionist attitude.

I have to point something out that I have noticed of late. When you show up with a 250 many "experienced" hunters assume that you are a rookie and avoid you. Until they have used one they really think that it is akin to radioshack unit from the 80's.

Good show on the number of good targets. Here is something that is fun to do. Hunt with a machine and compare your number of good vs bad targets. Hunt with the 250 and see what it is like.....

Why spend more (except on a water machine)??? I am confident in the yeller feller no matter who is in my company. <><

From the land of the Bluenose...without a doubt a great green machine. I regularly hunt with fellows with Minelabs and have similar results with my 17 year old freedom 3 Plus (upgraded from a Freedom 3 CDC. Keep on a swinging!

I was hunting at a park when another MDer arrived with his DFX. But he was a friendly guy who heard that the 250 was good detector. He gave me some advice that we all had heard already and invited me to join the local Detecting club. I think Im going to take him up on that.

A couple of things. One you said you were using a small coil. Was he?. If he was using a stock coil you would get closer to the walk if it has rebar in it.
He may have been detecting for 30 years but not with the DFX its not that old. He may have gotten it that day. The DFX is not a simple machine.
Dont matter what machine you have. You have to learn what its telling you.

i also have the 250and the dfx, the ace is a good machine but it cant stand with the dfx. i cant speak for any body elses dfx but my machine will run circles around the250 and thats a fact.now in the dfx preset mode the ace is on par, but on my custom programs i run the 250 cant touch it.as i said i also have the ace and im not being bias, its a great machine for the price and performance, but you cant compare it to the dfx, especially in the hands of someone that knows how to use it.and im ready for anybodys feed back cause i know some folks dont like to hear anything negative about the 250,its a good machine but it aint all that.

The DFX's factory presets suck pretty bad.Maybe 4" on a penny.Every sensitivity is turned way down.Tweaked programs will give you 8-10" on the same penny. That's why you see guys get rid of the DFX.They load a factory preset which will only find surface clad, get disgusted and sell the thing. It is not a machine for beginners.Dave
