One thing that has helped me is to realize that the depth scale on the Ace is for -- and based on coins. If you have a coin sized object its depth will read pretty accurately, but if a the object is larger that a coin it will read more shallow than it actually is. By the same token an object smaller than a coin will read deeper than it is. To get an idea of the size of an object that has been pinpointed raise the coil with the pinpoint button pressed, small objects will fall away quickly, but large objects will pinpoint much higher off the ground.
This is what I am trying to say : a car fender at 24 inches deep may read at 8 inches.
: a small earring at 2 inches deep may read at 6 inches.
: 350 says its a quarter, but you can raise the coil at pinpoint 8 plus inches is not a quarter.
