I used the address from your other post to access that site. There was some very good info there. Now that you have read it, you will come to realise that you have quite a potent detector in your hands. To me, it seems to have a good balance of mystery to discrimination. by that, I mean that there is enough discrimination to combine with pinpoint feedback, to accurately enough, figure out coins and good targets, like rings, jet enough mystery to be surprised by something that you are not expecting! Those are always the best finds, and make the hobby interesting.
The more I use other detectors (I have an Explorer and an X-Terra30) the more I prefer the Ace. The Ace hunts closer to metal, seems to ignore small iron better, has an overall good to bad target ratio ( in that area alone, it monsters the Explorer! As we like to go after $1 and $2 coins over here and they are in screw cap range, The Ace via it's pinpoint fade, does a much better job of knocking out screw caps than the Explorer can!) it's light, even with the large coil on, it's still only 1.3kgs! which is the same weight as the X-Terra with it's standard coil on; with the large coil on, it can hunt deeper than the Explorer when armed with it's standard coil, and it pinpoints far better and easier than anything else I've seen on the market (and believe you me, I've looked closely at most brands). a Tesoro may match it for pinpoint accuracy, but I'm not sure if it is capable of the same target feedback. Oh did I mention that it is cheap. About the only negative I can think of, is that it doesn't have a volume control to allow for hunting without headphones, which is the way I prefer to hunt. If it had imaging, I'd never buy another detector.
I'm not brand loyal, but seem to be in danger of becoming so.It's just that this detector delivers.
One of the other benefits that comes with detecting, is that it gets you outside and exercising, as you have found out. I'm glad to see that you have lost weight.:clapping: I've also agree with you about 1 finger typing. That's what I do and if I'm as fast as 10 words a minute, then I think that I'm flying. I makes the task of saying things, a lengthy process. If I learned to touch type then this post would have only taking a few minutes instead of half an hour or more.:rage:
All the best.

Mick,
I have yet to use a coil that can get right next to support posts like the sniper can. It must have a lot of shielding in the top and sides? This would be why it's twice as thick as other tiny coils. If Garrett would add a manual ground balance feature I would sell my other detectors and run the Ace 250 only! Garrett while your at it why don't you make a couple of DD coils too!

Yeah Kenny. That coil is a cracker! I don't use it a great deal, but whenever I go to Sydney or other similar places, it always comes. This is mainly because that's the only time I hunt around play equipment. It never ceases to a maize me how often I can pull up a coin that is masked by the metal of the play equipment that others can't get to, especially as you learn to hunt in pinpoint and tilt the coil. I use it when I hit a really trashy part of a site to good effect, but most of the rest of the time, the large coil serves me well. I should try and hunt with it sometimes in open areas, just to see how many targets I'm missing due to masking though.

I use a philips head screw driver with a thin 8 in shank (shaft). It has a smooth handle to reduce blisters.
