Hello, While out detecting today I hit a signal and the detector froze-up I had to remove the battery's to shut the unit off then I turned it back on and rescanned the target and dug it, it was a alum.clip. (1/2"x1") about 4" deep, the detector worked fine after that. Was it just overloading the circuits causing it to freeze-up anybody ever have that happen?( ace 250 about a month old)

I myself have never had that happen but my bro Awhitster has. Not sure why it does that. I'm sure one of the OLD TIMERS here (Hey Willy or John) will have an answer.........

Most likely just a glitch. It happens just like with a computer. I've had detectors do all kinds of strange things.

I used some batteries from Northern tools once, bought em' in a bulk pack and that happened several time s while using them. I went back to the rechargables or a better brand and have not seen the problem again. I think it was the way the Northern batteries fit into the detector.

Every once in a while when I get an unusually large target or an abundance of trash, my ACE will overload and will not stop until I power down. I have never had to remove the batteries however. I also had this problem occasionally with my CXIII as well.

We still have it better than in more primitive cultures...
