Hello,

As this is my first post I'll tell a little about myself.
My name is Joseph and I'm 27yrs old and live in Duncan, Oklahoma.
I bought one of those cheap "TOY" metal detectors off of e-bay about a year ago for about sixty dollars. It wasn't that bad of a machine... It did beep when it found metal, mostly pulltabs. I did find some clad, less than a dollars worth, and a wheat. I also had what I think will be the wildest story I'll ever have while metal detecting. I got a pretty solid hit... or so I thought in my backyard the day I received my metal detector in the mail. Upon digging about a foot down I pulled out a dog tag... Still connected to the dead dog. I quickly shoved the poor pet back down in the hole and covered him up. I'm guessing it was the pet from the people whom we bought the house... What makes it even funny is the fact that I dug up a dead cat at my in laws not two days later which had it's collar left on when it was buried. Anyway that machine didn't last very long... a few months before it cratered.

I put that detector away in the shed and found it the other day when cleaning it out. I decided it was worthless and tossed it in the trash. But the bug hit me again and so Sunday night I ordered a REAL detector from Kellyco. After reading MANY post in these and other forums about the ACE 250 I knew that it was the detector for me.

I want to say thanks to everyone here that contributes to these forums. You never know who is lurking behind the scenes who has an interest in this hobby. I look forward to talking with many of you and learning this hobby from the inside out. Thanks again and I look forward to many hunts with what I hear is a great detector.

L4N,
Joseph

Joe,

Welcome, That little detector will amaze you. Your training ground should be your local park. Read your detector manual to learn how to pin point and prob to recover without making a mess of the lawn.

I would recommend that you get the latest issue of coin hunting by Charles Garrett. Alot of good tip in there on how to keep your coin hunting pouch full.

Again Welcome.......HDJ

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I plan on taking tons of pics as I bought a new kodak digital camera last year. I'm hoping that my Ace 250 comes in by friday morning since my wife is going to New Orleans with my in laws this weekend. I plan on hunting some treasure the entire time she is gone.

We might have to have us a Red River Shootout with our 250's, but I'll leave the dead pet digging to you!! Good luck with that Yeller Feller, you picked a good machine for your first REAL detector. Keep us posted on your finds, except for any additional pet remains you may come across.

JUst remembered, I dug up a dead pet in my back yard many years ago, buried in a big, square, tin can. You never know what you'll turn up when beeping.

Bill

Hey Joe,

Be sure to dig all the "nickle" reads if you want the rings! Best of luck to you. You gotta keep us posted!!!! <><
