Ace 250 Works Well Where?

Hello. I'm in northwest Florida and would like to detect on the beaches as well as on land. Would the 250 do well with both, and why? Would I need to get an attachment (SunRay probe, etc.?)

Also, for those of you with an Ace250, what would be your choice of upgrade, and why?

By the way, I still have my first detector, a 25 year old Garret, that I used a little in Germany that long ago! Just got it out to get back in detecting. It works! (But, it is irritating...too much effort to dectect easy hits.) I'm still a novice, but one that wants a very good detector for my area sand and soil that has new technology and is lightweight and accurate. I'll appreciate any of your expertise.

I own both an ACE 250 and a GTP 1350 and quite honestly I don't know which one I like best. I think the GTP 1350 just has more bells and whistles. I have found many coins and Civil War relics with both detectors. I have use both at the beach and here at home in VA.
I bought the ACE as a loaner to anyone who would like to hunt with me, and for my Grandchildren to use.

The 250 is all you will need to get back into the swing of detecting and about all you will need afterwards. It is a giant disguised as a midget.

Buy it and get the small coil with it. I got mine from Kellyco in Fl. and I have to say this is the machine. I think Garrett messed up when they built such a good machine for so little. I just bought mine in Fl, used it on the beaches, and took it back to Tennessee and it works great just about anywhere. After a hard rain is where it has some trouble but just turn down the Sensitivity. The only thing this unit won't tell you is what year the coin is.
Go for it!

On our beaches, in our parks, on snowhills. I use the large 9" x 12" coil for hunting beaches and sports fields. I use the sniper coil for hunting close to metal objects such as play equipment or chain link fences. The large coil gets more depth then the smaller one.

There is no doubt to it's performance on land. It is a good detector that will surprise you. I would suggest that you get the small coil for trashy areas. It will pay for itself and make your MDing easier.
You can have fun on the beach with it. The dry sand is all play and it goes deep. In wet sand you have to turn the sensitivity down or you will get a lot of falsing. I can detect a penny at 4" and a quarter at 6". The salt water is harder yet, but not impossible. A salt water MDer would be much better at this point. Fast moving salt water can make it go crazy.

I have posted these tips a couple of times in my posts. I hope they can help you.

Salt water tips on Daytona Beach for the Ace:

sensitivity..4-3 in wet sand
use all metal mode
PP is very vague, detune pp works good
Fast moving water makes it false..sen. 1...no good cure
swing level
You can hear and learn a false hit from a good hit
YOU CAN notch out below penny and eliminate most falsing and all gold
Pennies 4" and quarters at 6" in wet sand
Stay in the dry sand and you can beat them all(well, it seems like it)

Summer treasure comes from tourist. Winter treasure comes from the sea.

If you wanted to upgrade and live near the beach, get a good salt water MDer. One that you can take into the water and get wet with. There are treasures in the water.

I bought the ACE 250 as my first machine........after 5 months I bought the GTI 2500......I still feel the ace has done a fantastic job and only because my GTI has a large coil, I seem to have found a few more items........OR, Is it just because I didnt go over 'That' area with the Ace
