Ace 250 w/ xtra coil or 350?

I'll be buying my first detector soon. I've decided on a Garrett Ace. I'm trying to decide whether to get the 350, or the 250 with an extra coil such as the Sniper. I'll be doing mostly parks, tot lots, old home sites, campsites, perhaps freshwater beaches at local lakes. I'd be interested in your opinions of what might be the better choice, the 250 and a Sniper coil, or the 350 with stock DD coil.

I'd go with the 250, I don't think there would be much difference in performance and I think having better ID in the coin range(separating quarters from dimes) is more important than the enhanced iron resolution of the 350. I really like my ace 250 and have found a lot of things with it.

p.s. My favorite coil on the ace is the big dd, but the sniper is great too!

I would go with the ACE 250 with the sniper coil. It is the best coil to use for tot lots, is great in the shallow water at beaches where there tends to be a lot of trash and works great in the woods to get in tight spots. I have done very well with mine.

Ditto for me too.. Ace 250 and the sniper. Not only will the coil selection be more versatile overall,
the ID range is likely better suited for what you will be doing, vs the ID range on the 350, which is more
suited to relic hunting, with an emphasis on the lower iron ranges. The ID range and resolution on the 250
is better suited to coins, and overall average hunting.

Thanks for the opinions. I'm leaning towards the 250 and sniper. I think I'd have more options and get more use, and hopefully results, with the 250 and extra sniper coil. Being retired (disabled) and on a fixed income, I need to get the most bang for my buck. I'm mainly interested in finding coins and jewelry, although I wouldn't complain if I dug up a few relics from time to time. I used to go digging for antique bottles, something I'd like to get back into occasionally. I wish I would have had a detector along back in those days! Again, I appreciate your opinions, and I look forward to learning from this forum!

I would go with the ACE 350
The DD coil is going to give you the dept, great detector, my two buddies bought 350 from me and they are finding barber dimes 10 inch , solid reading no problem

The 250 will still find the relics even though it's not specifically designed for that like the 350 is.
It will still hit on the iron no problem. And if one wants to hunt for deeper relics in more open areas,
you can use the 9x12 or one of the other various large coils. I have both the 9x12 and the sniper
along with the stock coil on my 250, and use all three just depending on where I'm at. The 9x12 is
the same type of coil as the stock 6.5x9, just bigger. It will detect an average of 2-3 inches deeper
than the stock coil with the wider sweep area. But the stock coil and the sniper will make for a
good setup for average use. You will like the sniper.

The ID range of the 250 is better suited for coins and rings than the 350 is, being it's not tailored
so much for iron and lower conductivity objects. The 350 scrunches the upper coin range into smaller
ID segments with less resolution, with a more emphasis and wider resolution on the lower iron end.
I've had the 250 since I got on this forum, which is about 9 years.. Haven't had any trouble with it so far.

I have the coil covers for all three coils, and they are still in good shape. If I take the covers off, they still
look almost like new on the bottoms being I have always used the covers. The sniper really doesn't need
a cover, but I have one on it anyway.. But the two larger coils have epoxy bottoms, and are more prone to
rock damage if one doesn't watch the rocks. The epoxy is pretty tough though. You would have to whack a
rock pretty hard to damage one I imagine. With the covers, I don't have to worry about rocks at all.

I understand , Money tight , call me on the ACE 250
i will take care of you
