Ace 250 w/ 10 x 14 DD excelerator coil loves bottle caps!

There is a place that I like to go every morning on Daytona beach where unfortunately a lot of bottle caps get thrown into the sand. However I get the opportunity to clean up 60-70 of them each day as they always ring like a quarter! Even if I discriminate out the iron I still get each and every bottle cap. I am even picking last years bottle caps down to 8". Unfortunately I have to deal with these each and every day that I go down.

I met a man with an older whites today, didn't see what kind, but he could tell from the signal not to dig and where I didn't find one coin today somehow he picked off 5 or 6 pennies in a matter of minutes. I am hoping that's experience and not the machine. I normally pull all of the bottle caps though because they could be masking other items, or are there other machines that can get around that?

If it's behaves like the GTI, then with a bit of practice you should be able to pick them. Coins seem to give a more positive lock on both visual and audio over steel bottle tops. This is when using the 5x10 DD coil. Although I hunt for a different currency to you, some of my chief targets hit in that range.
Mick Evans.

Yeah, DD coils do love bottlecaps. I would be digging everything that didn't
I.D. as iron on the beach myself, especially in the dry sand where the digging
is easy. The faster you can locate the target and move on to the next one will
improve your odds of getting more goodies too. If you have a good wide sandscoop
I don't think I would even waste my time hitting the pinpoint. Just get a fairly close
idea of where the target is and scoop away. Grid an area and leave nothing to
chance. Good hunting to you !

It is not only bottle caps, but just about everything about the size of a coin!

It is hard to explain, but if you pay attention, you will notice that the tones are often clipped so they're not a perfect bell tone.

From my experience, the DD is a little bit better than the 6x9 with respect to mineralization, but does not appear to go deeper at least in the soils where I hunt. After using one almost daily for nearly a month, I've switched back to the 6x9.

Yeah in normal soil it won't go any deeper than a concentric. Don Dykstra specifically designed the DD coil for hot ground.
