Ace 250 vs.Teknetics Delta

Having thought I narrowed the search for my first detector down to the ace 250 a poster on a different forum brought to my attention the Delta. His assertion was the Delta has more coil options and a better display set-up with everything else pretty much the same.My question is has anyone owned these two machines and had real time comparisons?Thank you for any advice and help.

You may also want to consider the F2 for around the same price as the ace. I have seen the Deltas advertised for $242. I have owned the ace and used the F2 but not the delta. If the Delta performs similar to the F2 I would pick it. The pinpointing on the ace can be tricky and has frustrated some people. You get a 5 year warranty with the Tek. 2 with the garrett. I think the build quality is a little better on the ace. The Delta has numerical ID, the ace dont. This can make a difference. For example on the Omega I have most nickels hit at 56-57 id number. I have never found a nickel that registered 58-59 but those numbers are in the nickel range. I do not even dig those signals if I am in a real trashy area because most of them will be pulltabs, trash. So the numbers can be of some help in deciding to dig. If you just plan to beep and dig then it will not make much of a difference.

I had the same question over the summer and purchased a Delta with the pinpointer & case. I made a few assumptions (right or wrong) in my search, the biggest one is that the depths are probably close. The Ace had many good reviews and people were digging coins. But the Delta has a very decent numeric target ID system... a huge advantage in my opinion. I like the Teknetics set-up better than the Ace.... I really didn't want or need modes because I'm primarily a coin hunter. The Delta has an All Metal mode that utilizes the numeric target ID. I haven't used this feature much yet. Pinpointing is simple and very accurate. Availability of a dd coil is a plus. I just think that the Delta has a much nicer interface with the large easy to read numbers.

Having 2 all metal modes (Delta) and VCO sound (changing pitch as the target gets closer to the coil) is a definite plus for the Delta over the ACE.

The Delta is underated. It is better than the F2. My wife is going to use mine now that I have an Omega. Use the Sovereign mainly for the beach.

Not the ace. You want those numerical readouts. Why get a ace that puts the target into one of about 8 zones when the others give you 99 zones or numbers. Thing to note that I find very important. Both the delta and the F2 have the pinpoint button right in the bottom center of the control panel. This makes pinpointing simple and very accurate. If you look at the teknetics and the Fisher range, you might conclude that they are the same company???????
