Ace 250 user looking for club in raleigh N.C.

Hey, T. Man, you might to look for the:

TRIANGLE TREASURE QUEST & HISTORICAL PRESERVATION ASSOCIATION
City: Durham
Location: 4215 Guess Road, Durham, NC 27712
Contact/Phone: Shawn Lunsford

I actually was in this club in 2000 when I lived in Raleigh, Shawn is a nice guy, and actually showed me a few spots in town to detect.

This club mostly hunts Civil War relics, but there are also a few coin and beach hunters who travel to Carolina Beach occasionally.

If you do get into hunting relics, they will probably suggest you
to get a Nautilus machine, most of the relic guys have them because
they say it gets great depth in that red Carolina dirt.

The club meets at a small church once a month, I'm sure you will have no trouble finding it. I just looked up Shawn in the white pages and gave him a call to get the info about the club.

About hunting in Raleigh/Durham:

Coin hunting - I had my best luck in Durham detecting at old homesites. I did not have much luck in parks in Raleigh/Durham because they were trashy and not too productive in my opinion...maybe you can do better than I did, however. Most older schools were also a no-go as they were all locked up on weekends with no trespassing signs all over the place...that was pretty disgusting, public schools that are not public anymore.

Get out on Route 54 and look for the older homesites, and don't be afraid to ask homeowners for permission to search - I did get permission to search numerous times.

Hope this helps,

Mark
