Ace 250 & Sniper Coil

Hi all. Pretty new to metal detecting and very new to this site.

I've managed to pick up several handful of coins using the coil that came with my 250 but have since been looking at other coils. My question is this; When/where would one use the small Sniper Coil? Would it give me an advantage over the stock coil when it comes to tot lots?

Thanks!

Well, I'm sure everyone gets tired of me and my posts on the 250 and sniper coil- which I've used for 8+ years. Under benches, playground equipment, along sidewalk edges, next to metallic objects- the list is endless! And most people are so sure the Ace has "slow" response they don't know they can fly with the sniper- you can't sweep it fast enough to cause a target not respond. So I once posted "Snipey and the flyin'Ace". In fact it goes deeper than with a "slow" sweep! So in areas with a larger area ti cover, I don't have to sweep so slow I'm hindered by time constraints. And you can raise the sensitivity without all the noise and ruckus of the large coil-DEEP! AND I have found coins mixed with trash so trashy places are another site. And here's a tip I've never shared. Most detectors have their lowest sensitivity setting to a preset depth. I have some sites with HUGE mettalic objects and these detectors respond to these areas- but the Ace at 1-2 setting will NOT and allow me to cherry pick the top layer. Only a few sites like this- but the point is the Ace is very versatile.
I guess my final thought is: in some areas it nearly tripled my finds.

Wow. Thanks Slingshot! I appreciate the feedback. Evidently the Sniper doesn't detect outward from the coil, but strictly downward allowing for it to be used closer to metal posts, rebar, etc.. Is that a correct assumption?

Well ive got a new ACE 400. With Sniper coil, be here tomorrow. I started with a 250/sniper but sold them when i got a Whites M6 with 5.3 round coil workes great But i wanted another ACE so i saw the 400 ans bought it.

Well, according to how high the sensitivity. The toe (front) of the coil allows the closest to poles and the other sides almost as close. At 2 bars sensitivity, I can almost touch the bars. Higher you may get a sound- but a coin will still be discernible as a loud signal mixed with the pole blip.

Well, can't leave without a tip from a quarter I found two days ago near a bench leg. I got a loud signal w/quarter icon but I was really close to the leg and was thinking since it was so thick iI was picking it up. So I tried another spot near the leg with only a little blip. Went back and sure enough- quarter next to leg! So comparing signals at two different spots at the same distance convinced me to dig.

Just an update. Purchased the Sniper Coil for my ACE 250 and am truly enjoying it. Felt a bit weird swinging such a small coil but am getting used to it. Yesterday I got permission to search our local zoo but was forwarned that another guy hits it every other day or so. Still worth a shot to me. In just the small tot lot, under a tree and under 2 benches, I pulled $2.15 and a cool souvenir penny that they smash in a machine. Two of those pennies were Wheaties. No silver, all clad.

Point is, I REALLY believe I pulled this stuff because of the Sniper Coil. So glad I purchased it!
