ace 250 screen reading difficulties.?

Ive yet to put out some photos of the number of things Ive found, and I will shortly. To date Ive found 6 silver dimes, (2 of them barbers), 6 silver quarters, 5 Indian head nickles (one within the first 5 mins of the first time I ever used the Ace). Numerous pennies and many other very intersting things. One day I had a difficult time visually reading my Ace 250. The sensitivity level bars where fading in and out, as where parts of the ID bar, I know it wasnt the batteries. Fortunately it hasnt reocurred. could I have had moisture in there, or would the cold affect it? Any one else experience this? I know on very sunny days , standing to shade it, makes is easier to read, thanks, Osgood.

that happened to my GTA 350-I got moisture in it and the bars started fading. Now talk about jumping from the frying pan into the fire-I opened it up and put a fan on it to evaporate the moisture. The detector fell and ripped wires and a few of the tiny circuit parts and it now sits im my garage wishing. It hurt for a few years-and occasionally when I go into the garage I still cringe a little on the inside.

... but a bigger bugaboo for LCD's is heat. Even direct sunlight canheat them up enough to mess with them. Storing them in the car can mess em up too. I had that happen to my GTP 1350 - take it out of the car and it was fine after about 15 minutes.
I tend to agree that the problem was most likely a temp extreme.

By the way great finds! Looking forward to pictures and some details about why you came to be hunting in that particular spot.

I have the same problem with my 250. It's been going on for about 3 months. I just live with it so far. I don't want to take the time off that it would take to send it for repairs.
