Ace 250 scores today

Me and my buddy hit a park we hunt alot it is a hard hit park but we went to a rea on a hill side that is not used much no picnic areas on it only grass and trees . My hunting buddy found a kennedy half and a couple clad Quarters and a 1951 wheat penny he was using a new whites coin master . I found a quarter and a 1944 mercury dime and three modern pennies using my Ace 250 . this is my second mercury in two weeks from two different hunting spots one with my MXT and today's with the Ace 250 .
It gave a very jumpy dime signal in case anyone wants to know and was found at the bottom of a tree .
The back of the mercury had a nick in it not sure if it was already there or if I did it but there none the less .

Harold

Minty looking find in that merc !!

Very nice dime. One of my favorite coins. Do you do the "twitch" when you get those jumpy signals? It will generally clear the signal up.

Bill

Uncle willey not sure I know what a twitch is but i did spend sa bit of time studing the signal before I decided to dig it . It would hit a dime then jump around a bit then back to a dime so I decided to give it a look to see what was there. The mercury I dug a couple weeks ago in a ball field with my MXT gave me the same type of signal . I have learned to take my time before digging and study the signal readings a bit to figure out in my mind what its saying and to remember what its doing before hurrying to dig a target . You will have to explain your twitch to me tho . lol

Harold

The twitch is simply moving your coil side to side in a quick, snappy manner over the target.
I have described it before as the motion you would use to chase a bee off your golf ball with your club head before you putt.
Hope this helps..
I have found a '27 buffalo and numerous silver quarters but never a merc dime so I am just a tad envious.

Ok thanks for explaining what he mint by doing the twitch . I have found a few buffalo's but no silver quarters yet get a lot of 65 and 66 quarters so close but no silver quarters yet . Where I live in Missouri is pretty hunted out unless you can find a old house on private land . Thanks again.

Harold

Yeah since your detector is a "motion detector" the faster you move it over a target the better it discriminates and the deeper it goes. I've explained it many times on the forum but you probably didn't catch it. The Minelab boys call it "wiggling". I used to find some really deep coins using that procedure with detectors other than Garrett that didn't have "faint target audio boost."

Bill

Yeah the twitch has already been explained and it works on all motion detectors especially on erratic signals and those really faint signals. All you do is center the target then whip the coil rapidly side to side a couple of inches each way.

Bill

Nice hunt!:detecting:Congrats on the silver!:cheers:Sure looks good to me!:thumbup:Thanks for sharing!:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

:twodetecting::super: Nice Harold, maybe you can keep getting the mercs for the whole year......

HH!

Thanks for the tip Uncle Willey I will try it next time I get a chance . I got that mercury dime on Saturday and the following Monday I got another silver dime but it was a 1960 got it at 9 inches with the MXT so I'm on a roll right now cause that's three silver dimes in two weeks. Thanks again
